Henderson Hospital Begins Construction on New Patient Tower
On April 6, 2020, Henderson Hospital started construction on a six-story tower addition to its campus. The project, valued at $150 million, will add 96 patient beds by 2021 with an additional 86 beds shelled out for future growth needs.
Phase one of the new tower includes the addition of 36 medical/surgical beds, an expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit and a 36-bed patient observation unit.
The project will provide an additional 30 beds in the emergency department; an expansion of women’s services to add more labor and delivery rooms, a new operating room and more antepartum beds for high-risk mothers-to-be; and expanded spaces for the laboratory, supply chain, pharmacy and other departments. To accommodate the expected volume, there is also planning underway for a three-story parking structure with 480 spaces.
The tower construction will follow the completion of an in-progress $24 million expansion, which includes a 25-bed observation unit, second CT scan, the shelling out of several more surgical suites and further enhancements to the emergency entrance and lobby areas. The observation unit is expected to open in late July 2020.
