Henderson Hospital Celebrates 2021 With Patient Tower Completion, Variety of Awards

Capping off a busy 2021, the team at Henderson Hospital opened four new patient floors in its new tower, expanded its emergency department capacity by 25 beds, opened a 480-space parking garage, and earned multiple national patient safety awards and specialized certifications. These were for stroke care, heart attack and emergency-department geriatric care at Henderson Hospital and the ER at Green Valley Ranch.
2021 Construction by the Numbers
- 297 licensed-bed capacity (increased from 239 in August 2021)
- 52-bed emergency department (increased by 27, not included in licensed-bed count)
- 30 private suites within the neonatal intensive care unit, including larger rooms for twins and triplets (increased by 18 beds)
- 4 antepartum rooms for expectant mothers who need pre-birth medical care
- 480-space parking garage
- $150 million project cost

- 6 additional labor/delivery/recovery rooms
- 1 additional maternity-dedicated surgical suite
Awards and Certifications
Along with brick-and-mortar accomplishments, the Henderson Hospital team also achieved multiple quality and safety awards and certifications in 2021, including:
- Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from American College of Emergency Physicians recognizing the emergency department’s care of older adults – Henderson Hospital Emergency Department and ER at Green Valley Ranch
- Primary Heart Attack Certification for Henderson Hospital’s Emergency Department from the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association®
- 7th consecutive Leapfrog Patient Safety Grade A award
- 4th consecutive Leapfrog Top Hospital in the categories of Top Teaching Hospital (2020, 2021) and Top General Hospital (2018, 2019)
- International Board of Lactation Consultant – ICBLC for Women’s Services
